Purdue Association of Graduate Students in Industrial Psychology (PAGSIP)

The Purdue Association of Graduate Students in Industrial Psychology was established in 1949. The goals of the organization included providing an opportunity for current students to meet informally to discuss research ideas and problems and to foster communication with program alumni. In order to reserve rooms in the Purdue Memorial Union for their meetings, the students had to become an official Purdue organization—hence PAGSIP was born. In the early years, PAGSIP sponsored a variety of informal social activities for current students and alumni in and around the greater West Lafayette area. In addition, the organization sponsored a reception at the annual Midwestern Psychological Association meeting so that current students and alumni could get together. We have continued this tradition by holding a reception every other year in honor of the Ernest J. McCormick speaker at the meeting of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). All current Purdue graduate students in I-O Psychology and those who earned their degree at Purdue are considered PAGSIP members.  Needless to say, the current number of PAGSIP members is quite large and we are hoping to facilitate greater communication among alumni members and current graduate students through our website and LinkedIn group.
